Explore market opportunities and establish new business relationships in the Middle East

SIMEC attracts a range of attendees from the entire aquaculture value chain. This makes participation at SIMEC beneficial for Danish companies offering feed, solutions and technologies specialized for the aquaculture industry.

In recent years, aquaculture in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region has gained significant attention, with substantial investments being announced into major aquaculture projects. Danish companies with expertise in aquaculture technology and solutions will find the SIMEC exhibition, a timely and highly relevant platform to showcase their innovations.

Additionally, Danish companies supplying solutions to the fisheries industry, e.g. fishing equipment or on-board fish processing technologies, can also benefit from attending SIMEC. Technology for fisheries is a part of the SIMEC’s scope as well.

What can you expect from exhibiting on SIMEC:
  • Networking with relevant decision-makers and industry professionals in the fields of aquaculture, fisheries and fish processing from the Middle East region.
  • An ideal platform and meeting point for B2B exchanges between you and potential customers or other business partners from the region within the target industries.

Market brief of aquaculture & fisheries in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabian government has launched a VISION 2030 plan aiming to diversify the country’s economy and modernize society, including reducing reliance on imported food. This has among other things resulted in initiatives and reforms for further development of sustainable aquaculture production and fisheries. Aquaculture is regarded a pillar for national growth and progress and is planned to play a crucial role in the country’s vision towards a stronger self-sufficiency. In the period 2015-2022, domestic aquaculture production grew by 400%, from 32,000 MT to nearly 120,000 MT of shrimp, marine, and freshwater fish. The 2030 target is 600,000 tons intended for both domestic consumption and exports. To achieve this, the Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture in Saudi Arabia has launched various initiatives and a National Strategy for Sustainable Aquaculture Development including extensive R&D programs for improved exploitation and efficiency of the farming of domestic species as well as support programs for the industry.

The ambitious targets of the VISION 2030 will require significant investments over the coming years to exploit the potential and development of e.g. new hatcheries for various species and grow-out facilities around the country, which the government will also be heavily involved in and support.
